Equine Challenge ™ Flax is a human grade Canadian milled flax seed, the same
milled flaxseed used with all other Equine Challenge™ products. Flaxseed
contains 28% dietary fiber of which 7-10% is soluble fiber (which dissolves in
water) and 11-18% is insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber will turn into a jelly like
consistency and will slow the introduction of glucose into the blood stream and
will help move sand through the gut. Soluble fiber is of great benefit to horses
with insulin resistance and equine metabolic disorder. 50% of the dietary fat in
milled flaxseed is the essential fatty acid, Omega 3 (alpha linolenic acid).
Omega 3 EFA’s will help produce a nice shiny coat and will help with many dry
skin issues. Flaxseed is rich in anti-oxidants, high in Omega 3 fatty acids, high
in both soluble and insoluble fiber at a price which is hard to beat.
Recommendations for use:
2 - 8 ounces daily or as needed. Consider additional flaxseed support with out
the added cost of vitamins, minerals, probiotics and nutraceuticals for dry,
itchy coats, flakey skin and seasonal dermatitis, added protein and fiber. Can
be used in conjunction with all Equine Challenge™ products or as a stand alone
source of flax seed.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Keep tightly
sealed.
